Tony Dress is a former major league Baseball International Coach who has taken teams and trained players in Norway, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Australia and New Zealand. While in Europe, he coordinated coaching clinics and team events for all ages and has set up baseball clinics for ages 8-80. His main focus is working with youth to develop and enhance their baseball skills while experience the culture exchange and team benefits between American and European teams.
Tony developed the first national baseball team in Norway and implemented credential programs and recruited sponsors for the support of the international baseball federations.
Recently, in July 2011, he conducted a clinic and camp in Drobak, Norway for the Norway Midnight Sun Summer camp. It was a huge success. Drobak, Norway which once was the hub of softball and baseball has made a huge comeback. Young Norwegian boys and girls are anxious to fine tune their skills and share their culture while having interaction with an American Coach.
Coach Dress is able to create individual and team coaching programs that include international travel and language programs. He has the ability to tailor make a tour and coaching program based on the needs of the team, players and parent’s requests. Dress is a Concord, CA native and recently held the position of head baseball coach at San Francisco State University, where in 2008, he coached two All – CCAA team selections. He came to SF State from head baseball coach for three years including guiding the Mustangs to its first home playoff game in 16 years. That season, Los Medanos College Baseball team finished ranked in the top three in the state of California in hits, stolen bases, batting average and doubles. Dress also coached at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, CA from 2001-2003. He turned a last place program into a winning program in 18 months. Prior to his stint in Acalanes, he served as the Assistant to the General Manager of the Wichita Wranglers, Double A-affiliate of the Kansas City royals and the National Baseball Congress.
He was coordinator for Major League Baseball International in Norway, Sweden, Spain, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. Prior, Dress played collegiately at Chico State and captured the team’s Most Valuable Player award and was named Most Outstanding Hitter in 1993.
Coach Tony Dress is a motivational speaker who conducts a “Championship Thinking Coach” program to encourage success in team sports and business. He also does team and individual video assessment and leadership coach development.
